After completing Thursday’s weigh-ins at the Sheraton Hotel on Aero Drive in Kearny Mesa, Bobby D Presents in association with Jorge Marron Productions and Gabriel Barron Promotions has another well constructed fight card set to go Friday night at 7:30 p.m. inside the Grand Ballroom of San Diego’s Four Points by Sheraton Hotel on Aero Drive in Kearny Mesa.

In the Main event, it will be super lightweight Emmanuel “Renegade” Robles (7-0-1, 2 KOs) of San Diego taking on knock out artist Joshua “Superman” Marks (8-4-0, 8 KOs) of El Centro, CA.

As far as similarities – both boxers are 25 years of age, both have a ton of experience, they’re both from California, Marks from El Centro and Robles from Imperial Beach and finally they’ve sparred against each other, a sparring session that had tongues wagging.
Not that long ago, the boxers met at the Old School Boxing Gym in the SDSU area (San Diego State University) to spar. According to an eye witness the sparring session got way out of control and Marks stormed out of the building with Robles in hot pursuit. Ever since that day, the two men have been looking to settle their differences.
“Marks stormed out of our gym so fast, he left his gloves and head gear behind,” recalls a smiling Robles. “I was stupid and followed him into the parking lot where we went at it some more. If it wasn’t for my coach telling me to stop, who knows what would have happened.”
Where the boxers differ: Marks, the power puncher is a natural welterweight and has eight knockouts. The taller Robles, a super lightweight, is a master boxer with quicker hands but only two knockouts.
Marks’ four losses came to boxers with a combined win/loss record of 57-7-2. The undefeated Robles has only fought three boxers with a winning record. The combined record of those boxers – 10-1-3. Marks is a righty, while Robles is a southpaw.

Twenty-two year-old super welterweight David Barragan (4-0-1, 2 KOs) of the House of Boxing in San Diego will be going against 30 year-old Moses “the Warrior” Alvizo (1-5-0) of Phoenix, Arizona by way of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.

Last time out, Barragan fought Jose Martell and was able to overcome a flash knockdown in Round #1 and then go on to earn an unanimous decision. Barragan has never faced anyone with a winning record and the combined win/loss record of his opponents is 2-8-2.
His opponent on Friday evening, Alvizo, began his pro career facing a Canadian National champion, Mikael Zewski whose pro record now stands at 19-0 with 15 knockouts. The combined record of the gents who defeated Alvizo is 38-1-0, with 23 KOs.
So, the disparity lies not only in their age difference, Barragan is 22 and Alvizo 30, it lies in their strength of schedule.

Next up, it’s Oceanside’s all-action flyweight Jonathan “Johnny Boy” Quiroz (3-1, 1 KO) who is trained by his stepfather, Bernie Nevarez and brother Brian Nevarez (also a pro) at Rhino’s Boxing in Vista. Quiroz will be going up against the hard hitting Javier Barragan (2-1, 2 KOs) who is trained by the well respected Antonio Diaz of the Indio Boys and Girls Club, Indio, CA.
In Quiroz’s last outing he stole the show by coming out victorious in a toe to toe battle with Jesus Sandoval. Guess what? Barragan, no relation to David Barragan, is another banger and after only three pro fights, he has two knockouts. After 100 Amateur bouts his record is a commendable 75-25.

Next is a female bantamweight bout between Mexico’s Guadalupe “Lupita” Gutierrez (1-3) of Fallbrook, CA by way of Naucalpan de Juárez, a municipality northwest of Mexico City and Americano Aracely Tinoco who trains in Lake Elsinore, CA.
Tinoco, who is making her Pro-debut, has a record of 43-7 as an Amateur. For a little over four years, she’s been training with the well respected Jorge Porras of Fallbrook, CA. Together, they’ve traveled extensively to compete, from Ohio to Tahiti, you name it. The Tinoco and Porras clans now feel Araceli is more than ready for the pro circuit.
Gutierrez’s coach feels Lupita has been victimized by three, what he calls hometown decisions. He has confidence she can now turn her career around.

Last but not least, it will be the San Diego debut of featherweight Erick Ituarte (4-0-0, 1 KO) of Santa Ana, CA by way of Gomez Palacio, Durango, Mexico going up against Pablo Batres (4-4-1) of Nogales, Sonora, Mexico.
While Ituarte faced relatively easy opponents, Batres faced the much stiffer competition.
Batres’ record as an amateur 35-4, Ituarte’s 42-5. Both boxers have m0re than enough experience to make it a close contest.
