Weigh-ins complete for Borizteca Boxing’s “La Revolucion” show
On Friday, November 11, at the Salon Mezzanine in Tijuana, another big name from the USA Amateur Boxing ranks, Adrian Gutierrez of Chula Vista, Calif. will be turning Pro. On Thursday at his weigh-in, Gutierrez was interviewed by awarding winning sportscaster Fernando Paramo from LATV.
That old saying of “not everything goes as planned” came to light on Thursday afternoon, November 10, when more than 20 boxers showed up at the Tijuana Boxing Commission offices for their weigh-ins and physicals to ensure they were fit to compete in the latest Borizteca Boxing Promotions event on Friday evening at the Salon Mezzanine. As the boxers arrived, the trials and tribulations of being a fight promoter began.
In the door came Isaac Avalos with his left arm in a bandage from the elbow to the tips of his fingers. Only the day before the weigh-ins, Avalos had what he felt was a great opportunity to get in some last minute sparring and took it. During that sparring, he broke his right hand. Fearing the promoter might not believe him, like any good soldier, he showed up at the weigh-ins with his bandaged arm plus he brought along the x-ray from the hospital. The confident promoter assured Avalos that there was no problem, “We’ll call around to the gyms and get a replacement.” This scenario of a boxer not being able to compete or being unable to show up for their weigh-in happened twice more. This is when a promotional company like Borizteca Boxing has to show their mettle. Within minutes their CEO, Saul Rios, an ex-boxer, was on the phone calling around to the gyms and the various managers for an assist. Instead of panicking, special arrangements were made and before you knew it, he had several boxers lined up. With that being said, below we have the boxers who did pass their physicals and were properly weighed in.
The combatants in Friday’s Super Featherweight Main Event, (l to r) 27-year-old Adam Fiel (9-0-1, 4 KOs ) from Vacaville, Calif. and 30-year-old Edgar Daniel Ahumada (3-12-1) from Tijuana, B. C., Mexico.
In the co-main event, it will be Jorge “Pantera” Silva (right) 21-12-2 going up against Adriel Juzanio (22-13-2) of Huatabampo, Sonora, Mexico.
Also on the fight card, you have lightweight Edgar Valadez (2-0) (l) from Spring Valley, going up against Ramon Madero (0-6 ) from Tijuana.

Ricardo Valdovinos of San Diego (2-0) had been scheduled to face Isaac Avalos, but the boxer broke his hand.
In Bout #6, they have featherweight Roberto Meza (4-0) (l) going up against Israel Pineda (0-2) (r) of Camalu, Mexico.
Welterweight Elias Diaz of Chula Vista (1-0) had been scheduled to go up against Hugo Gutierrez of Tijuana in Bout #4 but he will now have to wait and see who his replacement is.
In Bout #2, they have Adrian Gutierrez (left) in his debut taking on Juan Sanchez (0-2) (right) from Tijuana.
Bout #8 features light heavyweight Jorge Escalante (4-0-1) going up against Jorge Alexis Guillen (0-2-1) from Mexicali, B. C., Mexico.
Bout #2 has Johnny “Azteca” Rosales (left) of Los Angeles, Calif. making his Pro debt against Edgar Ivan Garcia (right) of San Luis Rio, Mexico.
They also have Justin Woodard of Oakland, Calif. in town to make his Pro debut. At the outset, he was told he’d face Juan Carlos Moreno (0-12-2).
