After dominating in the last Epic Fighting show of the year, The Arena MMA Team, led by Tyler Sidders and Tom Watson, claim they’re now ready to take it to the next level.

Not all that different from the NCAA which showcases their top athletes to the NFL, NBA, NHL and Major League Baseball through their College Bowl Games, College World Series, and such, the California Amateur Mixed Martial Arts Organization, Inc. (CAMO), a nonprofit public benefit corporation created to oversee and maintain the safety and credibility of amateur MMA in our state. The qualified athletes will compete in eight different regions throughout the state (Los Angeles, Orange County, San Bernardino/Riverside, San Diego, Bay Area, Sacramento, Central Valley, and Central Coast).

Once again, Epic Fighting of San Diego was chosen to host the first leg of this California Amateur MMA State Championship Tournament to be held September 13, 2013 at the Four Points By Sheraton Hotel. As of this writing Epic Fighting 20 has 34 of San Diego County’s top MMA fighters scheduled to compete. The winners then go on to the State Quarterfinals, followed by the State Semi-Finals with the best finally ending up in the State Championship in November/December 2013.

“Epic Fighting’s purpose is to provide San Diego’s talented MMA fighters with the necessary experience and exposure to become professional fighters,” states Jason Stewart, CEO of Epic Fighting. “It is an honor to be selected by CAMO to host this year’s Regionals. We are now busy matching up the top-tiered talent and I am confident several of these fighters have the ability to make it to the State Championship.”

San Diego has quickly become the hotbed of the sport for up and coming mixed martial artists not only to train but to launch their careers. By holding the CAMO sanctioned shows at various venues throughout San Diego County, promoters like Epic Fighting help these amateur fighters gain the experience in a convenient, effective and safe environment.

“Since the promoters do an incredible job of promoting these events all year, we have no doubt they will match the best fighters in each region to vie for the title in this year’s championship,” said Jeremy Lappen, CEO of CAMO. “It was proven last year that California has a wealth of incredible amateur MMA talent, and several of our champions from the past year have already gone on to great success at the pro level.”
