Press Conference scheduled for Meraz, Canett, Fonseca fights

The Borizteca Boxing Management Group of San Diego to hold their Press Conference Friday noon at the San Nicolas Hotel & Casino in Ensenada.

Borizteca Boxing Management Group of San Diego to hold their first Press Conference on Friday at noon on August 8, at the San Nicolas Hotel in Ensenada. At that time they’ll announce their full slate of fighters on the undercard of the Mario “Rocky” Meraz vs Lizandro de los Santos fight.

Your formal invite from Saul Rios, CEO Borizteca Boxing Management Group:

This coming Friday, August 8th, we hope you’ll have time to join us at the Press Conference at the San Nicolas Hotel in downtown Ensenada. At our 12:00 noon get together we’ll give you all the particulars regarding our first show at the Gimnasio Oscar ‘Tigre’ Garcia on Friday, August 15th.

This will give you a chance to meet and greet with the principles in our organization, plus the headliners on this much anticipated, inaugural show.

We can’t have all 16 boxers present but we will have as many as possible. The two gentleman in our Main Event, 24 year-old, light welterweight, Mario “Rocky” Meraz of Ensenada, B. C. (21-4, 17 KOs) will be going up against 23 year-old super featherweight Lizandro de los Santos (22-11, 9 KOs) from Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico.

In De Los Santos’ last bout, November 16, 2013, he fought Qui Xiao Jun for the WBC Asian Boxing Council Continental super bantamweight title (118-122 lbs.) and was knocked out at 1:48 of the second round. Before that fight he had won six in a row.

At this point in his career, after putting on some more muscle, he feels more comfortable fighting as a super featherweight 126-130. How he’s going to deal with Meraz who is a natural welterweight remains to be seen.

In the co-main events we have the rising stars of boxing welterweights Oscar Alexis Canett of Ensenada, B. C. (5-0-3 KOs) going up against Adrian Nunez from Agua Prieta, Sonora(3-0, 1 KO), plus two established heavy hitters, welterweights Victor “Sina” Fonseca (8-3-1, 6 KOs) of Tijuana, Baja California and Juan Valenzuela (6-4, 3 KOs) of Agua Prieta, Sonora.

In addition there are two local fighters who will be making their pro-debuts and of course defending their home turf.

We are certain you’ll be impressed by these physical specimens who have been going at it hard in the various gyms and training camps, some for a solid two months.

Also present at this Press Conference will be the former WBO Super Flyweight World Champion Ivan “Choko” Hernandez, the President of the Ensenada Boxing Commission, World Kickboxing Champion Jose Guardos and members of the Borizteca Boxing Management team.

They will give you their thoughts on the upcoming fights. Of course we’ll also be filling you in on our future plans, the plan to have regular monthly shows. As mentioned, the event is on Friday, August 15. We hope this will be the first of many Press Conferences, the first of many shows and of course the beginning of a true partnership with the fight fans of Ensenada.

After the many months of planning, the Borizteca Boxing people have laid the groundwork so that the future shows can be even bigger and better.

In the first hour, between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. the boxers will be getting together with the fight doctor to insure they have all the proper physicals, documentation to insure their safety and fitness to perform.

We would certainly appreciate your input and of course your presence at this get-together which should begin promptly at 12 noon.
