Just in time for Comic-Con, WCK Muaythai at the Sheraton

Comic Con peeps have invaded San Diego’s downtown to be a part of Comic-Con International: San Diego at the San Diego Convention Center. This extravaganza runs from Thursday through Sunday, marking the 48th year of the show which makes it the country’s longest continuously-run comics and popular arts convention. To coincide with this event, on Saturday night, there is a WCK Muaythai show at the San Diego Four Points By Sheraton Hotel on Aero Drive.

In this millennium, where you have so many pretend heroes dressing up in costumes for social events like Comic Con, it seems ideal to invite these enthusiasts to end their Saturday of fun and games at an exciting WCK Muaythai show where the combatants use knees, high kicks, elbows, and fists to destroy their opponent. Back for another night of thrilling Muaythai at the Sheraton is promoter Dennis Warner featuring top fighters from 14 separate Muaythai gyms. Take a gander at the list of fighters on this intriguing Fight Card.

Another great matchup is the one between Brendon Raftery (l) of Steel MMA and Cody Sessions (r) from Upland, Calif. who trains with Team Diamond.

Alex Higley (r) from Higley Muaythai and trained by Chris Getz will be making his Pro Muay Thai Debut against Matt Hakan Erdems from the Sityodtong gym Los Angeles. Erdems is a professional Actor/Athlete based in Los Angeles.

(top, right) Alysia Madison from Steve Frye Muay Thai, Point Loma, is as tough as they get. Her cheerful opponent is Natalie Morgan from The Yard who also has a lot of experience/credibility. All eyes will be focused on this scrap.

Another of the high caliber matches has Jason Breedlove of the Art of Eight Gym, Kearney Mesa (left) battling Roman Lysenko (right) from The Boxing Club in the UTC neighborhood of La Jolla, Calif. All photos: Jim Wyatt

Eddie “PNazty” Perez is from Progressive Martial Arts, San Clemente, Calif.

Expect fireworks: Known for his extremely high and accurate kicks, with just one swipe of Ryan Rahimpour’s foot he could wipe the smile off a giraffe’s face or better yet pick citrus off the top branch of a tree. His opponent, above photo, is the successful Eddie Perez from Progressive Martial Arts.

Same weight but there’s a big difference in their height – the battle between John Phillips (l) and Diego Cruz (r) will have everyone’s attention. The David versus Goliath battles are always extremely entertaining to watch.

The confident Erica Heine, who is from Steel MMA, Tierrasanta will be facing Kayla Fraser from The Arena. What’s that they say about “Pretty-in-Pink?”

“Bout of the Night” This one fight is worth the price of admission. Both fighters are the pride and joy of their respective gyms. Bruno Borges (left) from the Alliance Training Center, Logan Heights, San Diego, Calif. versus Allan Gabriel from the Xtreme Power gym on Mission Blvd. in Oceanside, Calif. Two wily veterans who always go non-stop with their powerful kicks and strikes.

With her man, James Gregory, being such a force in the sport, Melissa Nolan (l) from the Art of Eight Training Center just had to get in there and mix it up as well. Melissa’s opponent, Stephanie Tanguay, is from The Boxing Club, La Jolla.
