Mayweather vs McGregor fight, reminds one of the recent solar eclipse
Hooray for you. With the help of those special glasses, I’m taking for granted that you were able to survive taking a gander at the recent solar eclipse of the sun. Now, how are you holding up with all this hype in regards to Saturday’s Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Conor McGregor fight? Mayweather’s extravagant advertising campaign has been a solar eclipse in its self. The big time hype to ensure you make that phone call to your Cable TV provider has been in a word “Intense”.
Note well: the Mayweather Promotion people pulled out all the stops. Not only do they have the boxing legend taking on UFC superstar Conor McGregor, they’ve added an extremely competitive undercard.
The show is available almost everywhere. If you can’t make it to the T-Mobile Arena and pay thousands of dollars for a seat, you can always watch it live and in person at home for $99. The current ticket price from a scalper is now out of sight. If you’re in Las Vegas, you can head on over to any one of MGM’s properties to watch the event, or also watch the matchup, bigger than life, on the big screen at a theater, or in the comfort of your own home with family and friends messing up your crib.
Around 20,000 fans have traveled from the United Kingdom and Ireland in support of their hero, but many of those blokes will be watching the fight in the many bars along the Vegas Strip rather than spend an extraordinary amount of money on a ticket to the bout itself. “We’ve no tickets,” said one young fan in his twenties wearing a green Irish soccer shirt and drinking a beer in the hot sunshine. “We’re going to hit the black jack table and see if we can win enough money to buy some.” I wonder if he also believes in Leprechauns?
Mayweather, who is putting his unbeaten record of 49-0 on the line after coming out of a 23-month retirement, remains the heavy favorite with the Bookies, but it’s for sure a wave of late money will come in for McGregor thanks to the generous odds being waved in front of the Micks. “Bet on McGregor, he’ll make you rich! He’s your buddy, right? He’d never let you down.”
Hotel accommodations: Sorry to report the villas at Caesars Palace (starting at $25,000 a night) and Nobu Hotel at Caesars Palace ($35,000 a night which were previously used by the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Johnny Depp) have already been gobbled up. Give a listen to their concierge: “We get a ton of requests for tickets. We have plenty of our high-end players and guests who have come in specifically for this event. We put them up for the weekend and they will be attending the fight. We like to take care of our best guests.”
Best guests my a..! They may be wearing fine clothes, expensive jewelry, and splashing on their expensive fragrances but I doubt they can lose their money faster than an Irishman. Especially one who has already put a way a pint…or two.
