On the scale, Ivan Chavela (5-34, 1 KO) from Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico weighed in at 136 lbs. for his fight versus the favorite 24-year-old Hector “Guadana” Garcia from Tijuana. Hector “Guadana” Garcia (13-7-2, 8 KOs) weighed 131 lbs. Bout #2, Rafael “Grande” Rios (7-2, 4 KOs) of San Diego, Calif. weighed in at a modest but tight 240 lbs. of muscle. Rios’ opponent, Misael “Mimoso” Sanchez (11-11-6, 5 KOs) weighed 264 lbs. to battle “El Grande”. One boxer, Sanchez may have more experience (28 bouts) but the other man “El Grande” is a giant.

(photo, left) When Reed approached the scale, it appeared he had gone into one of those inner peace, contemplative, transcendental meditations.The patient Promoters and Rosarito Boxing Commission waited longer than usual and were able to take care of the additional stragglers which included the well known Adan Gamboa of Tijuana who will be facing San Diego’s Miguel Sanchez. Plus one of the parents weighed his impressionable son who can now dream of someday boxing for a world title.
