Bellator signs Liz Carmouche to multi-year/multi-fight deal

On December 21, 2019, Team Hurricane Awesome’s Liz Carmouche, who trains at 10th Planet San Diego Jiu Jitsu/The San Diego Combat Academy, signed a multi-year, multi-fight contract with Bellator MMA.

On December 21, 2019, the same night as Bellator and the USO Presented their: Salute the Troops, Bellator proudly announced their signing of U. S. Marine Corps veteran and established flyweight competitor Liz Carmouche to an exclusive multi-year, multi-fight contract.

Carmouche now joins Bellator’s women’s flyweight division following her six-year run in the UFC – a tenure that included world title fights in both the bantamweight and flyweight divisions, as well as notable wins over Katlyn Chookagian and Jessica Andrade.

Fighting out of the San Diego Combat Academy, the 35-year-old Team Hurricane Awesome-product also competed for Strikeforce, notching a pair of victories with that promotion and also earned an even earlier victory over Valentina Shevchenko.

Prior to her days as a professional athlete, the Lafayette, Louisiana native spent five years serving as an aviation electrician in the United States Marine Corps, where she completed three tours of duty in the Middle East. Being a longtime friend and teammate of Ilima-Lei Macfarlane, “Girl-Rilla” will now have an opportunity to compete alongside the Bellator women’s flyweight world champion in that already-stacked 125-pound division.

They say Liz Carmouche’s promotional debut will take place early in 2020 in the very same flyweight division which is now championed by her training partner, Ilima-lei Macfarlane, who recently successfully headlined on that Bellator 236 show which aired on December 21, 2019 on DAZN from Honolulu, Hawaii. Also is this division, they feature Juliana VelasquezVeta ArteagaBruna Ellen and Alejandra Lara.
