Tickets on Sale for “Tribute to the Kings”

This upcoming show is an example of Masterful Planning! First, the organizers of this International Event have it scheduled for Saturday, June 19, 2021 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. June 19th being the day before Father’s Day, Julio Cesar Chavez’s 35th Father’s Day. What better way to honor the legendary fighter Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. who has 107 wins just 6 losses with 2 ties with 85 of those wins ending by knockout. Now, at the age of 58, the legend has announced: “It’s for sure I’m hanging up my gloves after this one. It isn’t getting any easier. For example, they now have me matched up with a 42-year-old southpaw Hector “Machito” Camacho Jr. (59-7-1, 33 KOs) from New York by way of San Juan, Puerto Rico, the son of a former rival who I defeated for a world title way back, 29 years ago.”

Yes, all the pieces are falling into place: 1) the traditional rivalry, Mexico vs Puerto Rico, 2) Chavez’s opponent is an offspring seeking revenge for his Father’s loss and 3) the Promoter has them fighting on the day before Father’s Day! Is it possible they’re following a Movie script?  

Since early March of this year, Hector “Machito” Camacho Jr. has known of this undertaking and at this point is now preparing day and night for this opportunity in upstate California under the watchful eye of one of boxing’s best trainers. Statement of fact: In training, Hector Macho Camacho Jr. has already lost 22 lbs. 

To have an event like this forever etched in the minds of patrons, the promoters felt adding a match featuring an MMA great like the legendary Anderson “The Spider” Silva would be icing on the cake. Silva, born on April 14, 1975 in São Paulo, Brazil and growing up in Curitiba, Brazil now lives in Los Angeles and benefits big time from holding dual citizenship which comes in handy when you’re a huge draw worldwide. Recently, the longest reigning Middleweight Champion ever in the UFC with his 34 victories, 23 by knockout, left that organization to try his hand at Pro Boxing. Off and on over the years “The Spider” has worked on his Boxing skills and feels quite competent. That being said Mr. Silva should change his middle name to, “Mr. Confidence” especially after stating: “There’s no doubt I can handle myself against Chavez’s son, yellow hair.”

Even after breaking his leg in that title defense against Chris Weidman? Yes, this miracle worker waisted little and returned to fight again. He’s never been a quitter, where as his opponent, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. has a reputation for doing just that. This amazing MMA fighter had the necessary orthopedic surgery to stabilize his tibia and have them insert an intra-medullary rod in his leg so he could fight again. With Silva, it has always been “Mind over matter!”

If all turns out as planned, the Promotion Team of Toscano Boxing Promotions and Borizteca Boxing Promotions have a classic show ahead. One that Hollywood Script writers will be salivating over.

Again, all the pieces keep falling into place: Julio Cesar Chavez (J. C.) (107-6-2, 85 KOs) (right) has signed on the dotted line to face Hector “Machito” Camacho Jr. (59-7-1, 33 KOs) (left) for their so-called six-round exhibition (look out for the fireworks); Cruiserweight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (52-5-1 with 34 KOs) will be battling Anderson Silva while his second son, the 5’11 tall Omar Chavez (38-6-1, 25 KOs) from Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico will be facing the 5’8” tall Ramon “Inocente” Alvarez (28-8-3, 16 KOs) from Guadalajara for a third time (each has won once). In the show’s opener, they have an exciting title fight between the 24-year-old, 5’9” tall Damian “Samurai” Sosa (17-1, 10 KOs) from Tijuana versus the undefeated 28-year-old, 5’7” tall Abel “Authentic” Mina (13-0, 7 KOs) from Puerto Quito, Ecuador. They’ll be battling for the WBO Super Welterweight Latino Championship. 

With each day there comes the news of another signing, another Press Release to let us know who they’ve added to this memorable fight card. Their April 13th Press Conference stated they’re now looking to have a total of 12 Bouts with the addition of Kevin “Diamond Boy” Flores (17-1-1, 14 KOs) of San Diego by way of Bellingham, Washington.  

It’s important to note, their in-house tickets plus Pay-per-View buys are now available in Mexico on Boleto Movil boletomovil.com and the actual event tickets are priced in a wide range of prices from $10 for general admission on up to $350 for the Ringside seats, that’s if you’re the type that has to sit next to a celebrity like J.Lo or Beyoncé. Just kidding! Gates open at 4 pm. CST on June 19th with the undercard bouts beginning at 4:30 pm. 

Concerning the Pay-Per-View availability, they have Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. vs Hector Camacho Jr., the son of the now deceased Hector “Macho” Camacho, in a six round exhibition in which neither boxer has any intention of looking second fiddle or God forbid losing. Especially Camacho Jr. who back on September 12, 1992, at the age of 14, sat there with his Grandmother watching his beloved Father take that nasty beating at the hands of Julio Cesar Chavez at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, a fight that was viewed worldwide on Showtime pay-per-view. 

The now 42-year-old Hector Camacho Jr. vividly recalls each and every punch that Chavez landed on his father. That loss may have been the worst thrashing of his father’s career. The one-sided scores from that title fight on September 12, 1992: Judge Carol Castellano 119-110, Judge Dalby Shirley 117-111 and Judge Harry Gibbs 120-107 all favored his father’s opponent the WBC’s Super Lightweight Champion Julio Cesar Chavez.  

At this point, that Battle Royale between the Mexican Champion and the Puerto Rican Champion may be a vague memory for most, but not for Hector Camacho Jr. who remembers every grueling detail. Especially how his father looked in the closing rounds with all that swelling/puffiness around both of his eyes (see photos above).

Until then, you have that Main Event above plus the Co-Main Event featuring MMA legend Anderson Silva battling the former world middleweight champ Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (52-5-1, 34 KOs) an eight round light heavyweight bout.

Next, they have this Ramon Alvarez (28-8-3, KOs) vs. Omar Chavez (38-6-1) bout where they’re facing each other for the third time (their rubber match), a 10 round middleweight clash. Plus the San Diego faithful will surely be interested in the Kevin Torres (17-1-1, 14 KOs) bout. Torres’ opponent is yet to be announced.

And opening their show is an exciting championship bout featuring the all action Damian Alejandro Sosa (9-3, 7 KOs) from Villa Hidalgo, Buenos Aires, Argentina versus the undefeated Abel “Authentic” Mina (13-0, 7 KOs) from Puerto Quito, Ecuador for the WBO Super Welterweight Latino Title.

Altogether, they now have 12 bouts on the drawing board, so there can be no doubt there’ll be plenty of action for each and every fight fan watching at home on Pay Per View or Best In Boxing or for those sitting there at Ringside.
