Alejandra Jimenez defeats Martha Salazar to win WBC Women’s Heavyweight Title

After their long training camps, the ladies, Martha “the Shadow” Salazar and Alejandra “La Tigre” Jimenez were more than ready to contest the WBC Women’s Heavyweight Title on Friday evening, March 18, 2016.
It wasn’t easy but for 10 hard fought rounds, the 28-year-old, 5′ 11″ Alejandra “La Tigre” Jimenez of Mexico City, Distrito Federal, Mexico (6-0) kept up the pressure on her opponent the 46-year-old, 5’9″ Martha “The Shadow” Salazar of San Francisco, Calif. (13-5, 3 KOs) and appeared to land the harder shots, mostly to the head, to pull off the majority decision victory.
At the end of this title fight at the Oasis Hotel Complex in Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico, the scorecards read: judge Esther Lopez 96-94 Jimenez; judge Jesus Arias 98-93 Jimenez, and judge Fernando Barbosa had it 95-95 even. No one has to hang their head in shame. Both ladies stood toe to toe throughout and hardly ever took a step back. Since it was such a commendable performance, we highly recommend you take a look at their splendid performance.

The two ladies, with their shiners, Martha Salazar (l) and Alejandra Jimenez (r), along with referee Hector Afu, await the announcement of the judges’ decision from the show’s ring announcer, Jimmy Lennon Jr.
