Alvarez stops Plant in Round 11 to become the Unified Champion

Imagine, it’s 10 years down the road and these two gents are asked to fight for the same Title with one and only one stipulation: Only if they can fit into the same Wedding attire. The same tuxedos along with your wives sitting there at ringside in the very same Wedding Dress. That would be a Sell-out performance!

And what do we know about Mr. Plant’s better half? Yes, Jordon Hardy Plant is a knockout. In addition she has an amazing background in Sports. The former UNLV Track Star is presently a Sports Journalist, Interviewer, Announcer, etc. We could go on and on. She is presently working for Fox Sports Haymon Boxing and has worked for many of the big networks like Bounce TV, CBS, ESPN, FS1, NBCSN, Showtime and Spike. In other words, she is and has been in an ideal position to both assist and advise her husband.

Not always, but more and more recently, with the advent of all these Boxing/MMA bloggers and Podcasters, we’ve been getting to know more and more about a boxer and sometimes those embarassing family members. In the past your source was often a fired trainer whose lack of restraint came gushing out to make himself sound like a know-it-all.

Anyway, here’s the latest news/viewpoints from the bloggers who make it a practice of staying well informed in regards to their favorite Caleb Plant:

Fan comment #1: “How much thought did you give, if any, to the backlash you’d receive for wearing that scandalous White, Fluffy, girly-like outfit on your entrance to the ring? Come on Caleb, man-up!”

Fan #2: “I be truthful with you. We’re disappointed. At lunch today, my fellow workers were wondering if you had plans of going into hiding… and which disguise would work best. You could shave off everything, the beard, mustache or let everything grow, hair, eyebrows, beard, eventually they’d cover your entire face.”

Fan #3: “You know the State of Tennessee will always have your back. You went toe to toe with greatness and you gave 100%. You embodied the meaning of Tennessee TOUGH! Much Respect! We have no doubt you’ll be back again to become the Champ. Nothing but love for you!”

Fan #4: “You Sir, have become such a huge role model for so many right here in Cheatham County, Tennessee. From here on out, would you prefer to hear “keep on keepin’on!” or “keep on truck’n”? Much obliged for your input. Look’n forward to seeing you in the next “strap season.” A fellow employee got on my case for calling it “the strap season” and not “the Belt”. I don’t know, does it matter?”

Fan #5: “You proved a lot of people wrong Caleb and we’re SO very proud of you! Much respect! You’ll be back. Life is not always about winning. But loosing some fights might be a great lesson in eventually winning the war.”

Fan #6: “Great fight Caleb, you were brilliant, it was a superb performance. You just need to treat this fight with Canelo as he treated his loss to Mayweather. Use it as a learning experience and grow from it. I know we have not seen the last of you. Right back to that grindstone!”

Fan #7: “Awesome job Caleb, you have all my respect and I know you have new Mexican fans now, including myself. Don’t you worry, I’ll be right there supporting you at your next fight as you change things up. Here’s a suggestion, why don’t you go with the High Fade Pompadour or some Dreads? Like 2 Chainz, Lil Pump, J. Cole, add some color like my favorite Lil Uzi. So much love and greetings from Mexico.”

Fan #8: “Great performance, you pushed Canelo to the limit and showed more heart than most of his former opponents. Even though last night wasn’t the result we wanted, mark my words, this setback is only a small hurdle before your epic get back.”

Fan #9:The way Canelo Alvarez looked when he fought Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a shadow of the beast he has become. Unlike you, Mayweather was smart to fight Canelo before the cub became the lion!”

Fan #10: Pre-fight, the Alvarez faithful were all excited by the way Caleb Plant of Team Sweet Hands and their hero Saul “Canelo” Alvarez were using profanity and threatening to tear each other limb from limb. Yes, Plant was another of those menacing taller fighters with the reach advantage and at the same time he had become the most disliked of all of Alvarez’s opponents. All that pushing and shoving plus profanity. Right? Who says we’re supposed to get all excited about an opponent who has just 12 KOs after 22 fights? And yes, he was born in Tennessee, but where is he living now? Las Vegas! Sin City! So, so much for Mr. Plant and his followers following that Holier than Though script. As the saying goes, ‘The bigger they are the harder they fall!’ So true, so true. Make America Great Again!

Truth be known, this fight went exactly as the Canelo Alvarez Camp had planned.               After Canelo’s clinic on hard body shots, Caleb Plant found himself in the most awkward position as if he were laundry hung out on a clothesline waiting to dry.

At this time, Alvarez certainly needs alot more help showcasing the many World Title belts.

In retrospect, don’t forget it was Caleb Plant in 2019, that out of the blue wanted to become a rapper like his favorite, Big K. R. I. T. Here’s a sampling of Plant the Rapper’s initial offering in hopes of becoming an iconic Rap Star: “NOBODY in my weight class with faster hands, NOBODY with faster feet, NOBODY with better defense, NOBODY with a better IQ, NOBODY in a 600k crib, and that paid off spaceship in 18 fights.” They say his rap went on and on until finishing up with, “but ima let the rest unfold for y’all to see.” Certainly a catchy rhyme, worthy of the Grammy for Best Rap Solo Performance, Best Rap Song, Best Rap Album and likely Best Urban Contemporary Album.

Okey-dokey, it’s already been suggested that we give Mr. Plant the proper time to make his comeback. Comeback? Plant was never really on top. On the 30th of January, 2021 at the Shrine Exposition Center in Los Angeles, California, Caleb Plant defeated the #3 ranked Caleb Truax to win that who cares IBF Super Middleweight Title. In that so-called title fight, the 37-year-old Caleb Truax connected on just 47 of his 389 punches. Plant wasn’t much better landing 179 punches of the 581 he threw.

On the undercard they had more than a few wild and wooly free-for-all bouts.

Former WBC World Super Bantamweight Champ Rey Vargas, now 30-years old, made his successful return to boxing after a two year and four month medical leave, winning a unanimous decision over Leonardo Baez with scores of 100-90, 99-91 and 100-90. With the loss Baez now goes to (21-4). With his win, Vargas of Otumba, Distrito Federal, Mexico improves to 35-0 with 22 KOs and then justifiably received the proper recognition with his return to a world ranking of #3.

Elvis Rodriguez, who has fought locally in both San Diego and Tijuana defeated the equally                            tough 31-year-old, 5’10½″ tall Juan Pablo Romero (14-1, 9 KOs) from Villa del Carbon,                             State of Mexico, Mexico. At the time of the fifth round knockout all three judges had the same                           score 38-37 favoring Rodriguez (who now moves on to 12-1-1, 11 KOs).

The 37-year-old, 6’2″ tall Anthony Dirrell (now 34-2-2, 25 KOs) from Flint, Michigan                                      came to Las Vegas to defeat the 28-year-old 6′ tall Marcos Hernandez (now 15-5-2) who                                had no answer for the wily veteran who eventually secured his TKO victory in round four.

Super-Fly Fernando “El Leoncito” Diaz (10-1-1, 3 KOs) won a 5th rd KO victory over                    the fallen Jan Salvatierra, who had been undefeated. He now goes to 7-1 with 3 KOs.

The 25-year-old, 5’4″ tall Jose Manuel “El Gallo” Gomez (now 12-1, 5 KOs) of Huntington                          Park, Calif. is no longer undefeated after losing this wild and whooly, fists flying from every                              direction battle with the taller 5’11” tall, 74″ reach 25-year-old Jose Antonio “Pepao”               Meza from Gomez Palacio, Durango, Mex. who with his win improved to (8-6 with 2 KOs).

Also, it was the 36-year-old welterweight Rances Barthelmy (29-1-1, 15 KOs) from                                       Las Vegas, Nevada stopping the 32-year-old Gustavo David Vittorito (25-10-1, 12 KOs)                            from Concordia, Entre Rios, Argentina in round two to secure his 29th victory.

In the final bout, it was super flyweight Joselito Velazquez, being trained by Canelo’s                                      acclaimed trainer Eddy Reynoso improving to 13-0-1 after scoring an 80-72, 8 round                    shutout victory of Gilberto Mendoza who with the loss goes to (19-10-3).
