Mario Ramirez and Dewayne Beamon headline Friday’s boxing show in Tijuana
With a full slate of 13 bouts scheduled for Friday’s show at the Salon Mezzanine Hall in Tijuana, the Tijuana Boxing Commission had their hand’s full processing the 26 combatants who showed up on Thursday, November 16, 2017.
In Friday evening’s Main Event you have Mario “Guero” Ramirez (r) of Camalu, Mexico (8-1) being challenged by Alfredo Pitta (l) of Tijuana (4-9-1).
In the co-feature, they have Ricardo Valdovinos (l) from San Diego, Calif. (5-0) vs Alejandro “Alex” Castaneda (r) of Rosarito, B. C., Mexico (3-1).
Making his return to the ring after a three-year layoff is Rafael Ramirez (l) from San Diego (18-4-2) going up against Manuel Garcia (r) of Tijuana (5-13).
After viewing Dewayne Beamon’s phenomenal physique for the first time, anyone, which includes Super Flyweight Samuel Medina (8-4) of La Paz, B. C., Mexico would have to feel a bit intimidated or at least apprehensive about fighting this undefeated, 32-year-old who was visiting from Las Vegas, Nevada.
Amateur standout Brandon Cruz (1-0) from Chula Vista, Calif. returns to Tijuana for his second Pro bout against Carlos Escobedo (0-4) from Tijuana.
As you can see, Brandon Cruz should enjoy both a height and reach advantage.
After waiting and waiting for Edgar Ornelas from San Luis Rio Coronado to show up, Gilbert Garcia of San Diego (1-0) finally got his chance to weigh-in.
After completing his weigh-in, Edgar Ornelas (0-5) from San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora, Mexico was ready for his face off with Gilbert Garcia (1-0) from San Diego. In this match, it seems fruitless to root for Ornelas, especially since this underdog has yet to get past the second round.
In Bout #6, they have Mario Ramos (2-0) from the Bound Boxing Academy in Chula Vista, Calif. going up against Victor Barraza (0-6) from San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora. Barraza went the distance just once and that was against Hector Aguilar who at the time had a record of (0-7). Aguilar’s current record is 2 wins and 13 losses. In those 13 losses, Aguilar has been knocked out 12 times.
In Bout #7, Mulapi Enjani (2-5-2) of San Diego by way of the Republic of the Congo recently switched gyms to join the new Sweet Science Boxing gym of Bonita, Calif. He’s hoping to turn his career around with a win over the slick Adriel Osuna (0-2) who is from Ensenada, Mexico.

You might be thinking Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez (3-0, 126 lbs.) who is from the Robert Garcia Boxing Academy in Oxnard, Calif. and has this reputation for KO’ing sparring partners, is a prohibitive favorite in Bout #5, especially since little is known about his opponent Jorge Mosqueira other than he is from La Paz (1-0, 130 lbs.) other than he outweighed Rodriquez by 4 lbs.
Bout #5 had Omar Aguilar (1-0, 141 lbs.) from Ensenada, Mex. going up against Leandro “Cowboy” Monreal (0-0-1, 140 lbs.) from Rosarito, B. C., Mex.
Bout #1 had Fermin Canedo (3-19-1) from San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora, Mex. (above) facing 19-year-old Lucas Santa Maria 5-1, 3 KOs (below).
