Fast approaching: The Tribute to the Kings, June 19th at Estadio Jalisco in Guadalajara

The number of articles written, discussions taking place on radio, TV and the Internet, the number of posters posted in a neighborhood sports bar, barbershop, gym, the number of billboards purchased, photos taken of the participants, life stories repeated, countries involved? Too many to count.
Why all the hoopla? It’s their center of attraction, Julio César Chávez who’s career spanned 25 years. He not only won the WBC Super Featherweight title in 1984, but the WBA Lightweight title in 1987, the WBC Lightweight title in 1988, the WBC Light Welterweight title in 1989, the IBF Light Welterweight title in 1990, and finally the WBC Light Welterweight title in 1994.
Sounds like our hero has mixed emotions about this upcoming fight and perhaps needs to return to his local Church and have a long, enlightening discussion with his pastor.
(top, left) Ramon Alvarez: “Oh we’re all gentlemen, that is until we get in that ring.” Hector “Machito” Camacho Jr. (bottom right): “What did that old man say? Ass whooping!”
Maybe somebody needs to warn Hector Macho Camacho Jr. of Julio Cesar Chavez’s intentions.
“Oh, I know. I’m also battle tested and whatever games he wants to play, I’m ready. Together with my Grandmother, we watched on TV as Chavez put that beating on my father. It’s time for payback.”
Collectively, the Press and citizens of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico are going bonkers over this event on Saturday, June 19, 2021. You can tell by how very easy it was to take a photo of the boxers.

For over three months, two of California’s Top Boxing Promoters, Toscano Boxing Promotions of Stockton, Calif. and Borizteca Boxing Promotions of San Diego have been working in unison, seemingly never satisfied as they kept adding more and more talent, another intriguing matchup to whet the appetite of boxing fans. Their final add on was MMA legend Anderson “The Spider” Silva (2-1, 1 KO) in Boxing, (34-11, 23 KOs) in MMA) to fight bad boy Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (52-5-1, 34 KOs) which could prove to be the most intriguing of them all. Imagine signing the legendary Mr. Silva who ruled the MMA World for 17+ years to face Chavez Jr. who unlike his father has a reputation for inflating his Boxing Record and then doing. very little to improve it over the past seven years win his lackluster 4 wins and 4 losses.

Of the star attractions, hint-hint, which of the three of 12 matchups do you believe will be wowing not only yourself but the attendees in this 55,000-seat Estadio Jalisco Stadium?
The laid-back comments coming from Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. about Mr. Silva seem mind-boggling.
Has Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. been getting enough rest? In his interviews he was talking about Anderson “The Spider” Silva as if he were a novice in the Martial Arts and not the legend that he is.
Anderson “The Spider” Silva is no doubt the real deal.
With his Rockstar persona, fans might have more interest in the color of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.’s hair than his accomplishments in the ring.

One, shall we say “dirty trick” by Chavez Jr. in his fight with Silva and he just might be paying a dear price. If you were to look over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.’s body of work, you’d soon discover he rarely if ever faced a legitimate contender. His last fight in Tijuana was on September 25, 2020 against journeyman Mario Abel Cazares who like Chavez has an inflated boxing record by facing journeymen fighters with a combined record of 48 wins and 69 losses. Despite Jr’s use of multiple dirty tactics to include an illegal elbow to his opponent’s face, Chavez Jr. lost that fight by an unanimous decision.

Even though the 46-year-old Silva is now passed his prime and 11 years older than Chavez Jr., he does appear to be in excellent condition with the same prospect of going the distance (10 rounds) with Chavez Jr. Currently, Box Rec has their fight scheduled to go 8 rounds. As one of the biggest names in MMA and an elite striker with a noticeable reach advantage, you might feel Silva has more than a legitimate shot at coming out victorious. Chavez Jr. will no doubt do a lot of holding/clinching and leaning on Silva in an attempt to take Silva into the later rounds.

Chavez Sr., now 58-years of age, hasn’t been tested since his retirement in 2005. That being said this multiple-time world champion in 3 weight divisions, always seems to be in excellent condition. From 1990 thru 1993, he was listed by The Ring magazine as their World’s Best pound for pound boxer. He’ll be turning 59 in less than a month, on July 12, 2021.

This exciting show is scheduled to take place Saturday, June 19, 2021 at the Estadio Jalisco in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico and of course, the entire show is available live by way of Pay-Per-View for just $39.99. Check the start time as Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico is in a different time zone than our’s. When it’s 2 p.m. here in California remember it is 4 p.m. in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.

If you’re not familiar with the exploits of the younger fighters on this fight card, then you’re certainly in for a treat. Not only are they battle tested, have a slew of victories, they all have some of the quickest hands in the sport. The two lead bouts on the undercard would normally be Main Event Bouts elsewhere. With your buddies, go ahead and try to predict a winner… it’s as near to impossible as you can get.
