Last minute update for tonight’s Bobby D Presents fight card at the Sheraton

Could this man be the heir apparent to the Klitschkos’ reign? Razvan Cojanu, who is originally from Romania, stands 6’7½” tall and certainly has a reach advantage over most boxers. Tonight, at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in San Diego, local fight fans will be able to critique his chances.
All these last minute changes kind of remind me of the days when I worked for Montgomery, Scott and Biddle, a Philadelphia stock broker and member of the New York Stock Exchange. In that business, they use a closing bell to end the trading. In the boxing world, the changes keep coming right up until the first bell sounds.
Yesterday, I attended the weigh-ins at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel on Aero Drive in San Diego, CA and it was pretty much set in stone there was going to be five bouts on the fight card for tonight’s Bobby D Presents in association with Jorge Marron Productions boxing show. Then today, just before noon, I got word the 25 year-old Razvan Andrei Cojanu, a 6-foot-7 1/2″ Romanian, now training in Las Vegas and ranked 294 out of the world’s 1127 heavyweights, has been added to the fight card. His opponent will be Ganson Clark (0-1) who in his debut was KO’d in the second round by 264 pound Enrique Lobatos of Lynwood, CA (4-3).
What do we know about Cojanu? After losing his first fight, a mixed decision, to the 294 pound giant Alvaro Morales at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, someone took an interest in Cojanu’s preparation and taught him how to box. He then went on a four win tear defeating four opponents in less than a year. Tonight, San Diego boxing fans will get their chance to see this up and comer who has the size to stand eyeball to eyeball with the Klitschkos.
