Front and center is another Russian heavyweight with a lot of promise, Magomed Abdusalamov and once again, we hear that familiar rallying cry: "The Russians are coming!"

At Club Nokia, Los Angeles, CA (on Fox Deportes/FSN): Alfonso Blanco (7-0-0, 2 KOs) of Oxnard, CA by way of Venezuela defeated Leshon Sims (5-10-0, 3 KOs) of Hemet, CA. an unanimous decision victory, 6 rounds, junior middleweights.

Last time Sims fought was three years ago.

Ernesto Ocon of East LA came to San Diego back on November 18, 2010 to beat up Juan Carlos Diaz at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Mission Valley.

Ernesto Ocon (5-0-0) a southpaw from East Los Angeles won a 6 round unanimous decision over Ricardo Malfavon (1-6-1, 1 KO) of Santa Ana, CA, welterweights; Santiago Guevara (1-0-0) of Montebello, CA won an unanimous 4 round decision in his debut over Naphi Mohammad (0-1-0) of Garden Grove, CA, junior lightweights; Luis Mora (1-0-0) of Los Angeles, CA won a 1st round TKO victory in his debut over Stephen Rubalcava (0-6-0) of Exeter, CA, junior welterweights.

At San Manuel Indian Casino, Highland, CA: Featherweight Bernabe Concepcion (29-5-1) of Binangonan, Rizal, Philippines won  a 10 round, split decision victory over Aaron Garcia (10-3-2) of San Diego, CA; Rodel Mayol (30-5-2, 22 KOs) of Los Angeles, CA won a TKO victory in the 4th Round over Ernie Marquez (9-9-2) of Fort Morgan, Colorado, junior bantamweights; Richie Mepranum (25-2-1, 5 KOs) of Maasim, Sarangani, Philippines won an unanimous decision victory over Rigoberto Casillas (7-6-1) of Tijuana, B.C., Mexico, junior bantamweights.

At Bally’s Event Center in Atlantic City, N. J. (Showtime): Brandon Gonzales (15-0-0, 10 KOs) of Sacramento, CA. won another split decision victory, this time over Ossie Duran (26-9-2, 10 KOs), 8 rounds, middleweights; Javier Molina of Norwalk, Ca. (9-1-0, 4 KOs) lost an 8 Round unanimous decision to Artemio Reyes (14-1-0, 11 KOs) of San Bernardino, CA, junior middleweights.

Eloy Perez of Salinas, CA.

At the Sherwood Hall, Salinas, CA: (Telefutura): Eloy “the Prince” Perez (23-0-2, 7 KOs) of Salinas, CA won a TKO victory over Ira Terry (24-7-0, 14 KOs) of Memphis, Tenn.

The NABO junior lightweight champ and WBO #3 ranked Perez had the hometown crowd on their feet when stopping Terry in the sixth round. Round one began slowly with both fighters sizing each other up. Then just before the bell sounded, Perez hit Terry with a solid right. In Round two he started landing the left hooks and overhand rights. In round three he continued to force the action and midway way through the round caught Terry with a couple more big left hooks. Perez was systematically breaking Terry down. In rounds five and six, it was obvious the Terry was running out of gas.

Early in round six, Perez began landing the combinations and Terry offered little resistance which prompted referee Dan Stell to wave the bout off at the 1:22 mark. The loss was the fifth in a row for Terry. Perez’s trainer said they’re looking forward to facing Adrian Broner is their next bout.

The Alan Sanchez of Fairfield, CA versus Carlos Musquez, a six rounder was cancelled, welterweights; Rudy Puga Jr. (2-0-0, 2 KOs) of California won a 1st round TKO victory over Jose Jesus Hurtado of San Ysidro, CA. Hurtado (3-5-0, 3 KOs) currently trains at 1 on 1 Fight Company in El Cajon, welterweights; Magomed Abdusalamov (11-0-0,11 KOs) of Oxnard, CA. KO’d Masatka Takehara (6-6-3, 2 KOs) of Chofu, Tokyo, Japan in the first round of their six rounder, heavyweights. The end came at the 2:38 mark after Absusalanov landed a powerful left to Takehara’s chin.

Magomed Abdusalamov is a big boy.

Not to say their rushing him along, but Abdusalamov is already scheduled to fight Rich Power (15-1-0, 11 KOs) of The Arena, The Boxing Gym in San Diego at the Texas Station Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The native of Makhachkala, Russia, had been training at a local gym in Oxnard, CA. He’s a big boy, who stands 6’3” tall and weighs 260 pounds. At that size, he can strike fear into the heart of most any opponent. The two-time Russian amateur champion turned pro in September of 2008 with a first round knockout of Epiphanie Pipi, and his next opponent two months later didn’t fare any better, as Bernard Mwakasanga was stopped in just 41 seconds. You could say his management team is beefing up his record by having him fight nothing but stiffs (only four of his opponents had a winning record) but then again he has been knocking everyone out.
